|Photons from extreme QCD matter with ALICE||Klaus Reygers|
|The ALICE experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) studies the quark-gluon plasma, a state of matter with free quarks and gluons the universe consisted of a few microseconds after the Big Bang. This state of matter is created at temperatures above 2 trillion Kelvin. Experimentally, the temperature of the QGP is accessible through the measurement of thermal photons. Recently it has been conjectured that at the LHC a quark-gluon plasma is not only produced in collisions of lead ions, but also in proton-proton collisions. We therefore want to look for thermal photons in the recently measured pp data set with a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. We are looking for a student with a strong interest in nuclear and particle physics who likes programming (C++).|
