An additional course on radiation protection will take place on Monday, 6 May 2019, 13:30-14:00 (INF 227, room 3.404).

SS 2019: Introduction to the Advanced Lab course and radiation protection course
An introduction to the FP (including the radiation protection course) will be given on April 15, 2019, 13:30 in INF 308, HS 1. The slides for the FP introduction are available here.

Booking of FP seminar talks for the summer term 2019
The booking of FP seminar talks together with you FP partner is now possible via the FP status page. For bookings with someone else than your FP partner send and email to the FP adminstration. The same holds for seminar talks on experiments which are not part of the Heidelberg Advanced lab course.

Booking of FP experiments for SS 2019
The standard dates for FP experiments for SS 2019 can be booked starting on April 3, 2019.

F09/10 from now on in INF501
The experiment F09/10 (neuromorphic computing) is now located in INF501, room -104 (UG)

F16 without precondition (4 December 2018)
Experiment F16 (laser spectroscopy) can now be booked without the requirement of having done the experiment "basic optics".

New FP experiment: Studying the Z Boson with the ATLAS Detector at the LHC (5 November 2018)
A new FP experiment in the field of nuclear and particle physics is now available: F91/92 - Studying the Z Boson with the ATLAS Detector at the LHC. In this experiment real data of the ATLAS experiment are analyzed with the aid of the python framework PyROOT.

Printing of FP manuals: FP Print-on-demand
From today on (16 July 2018) you can print FP manuals for booked experiments free of charge in the FP building (INF 501). To do so you can log onto a computer in room 008 in INF 501 using your Uni-ID and select the desired manuals. Printed manuals will no longer be offered in the cabinet in INF 501 (the remaining available manuals in the cabinet can of course still be used). You experience problems with printing the manuals or you have ideas for improvements? Then talk to Mr. Ludwig in INF 501 or send an e-mail to

FP seminar talks
There will be no FP seminars in the semester breaks. Please make sure to book a date for your FP seminar talk during the semester.

FP experiments as last task in the bachelor programme
Please send an email to the FP adminstration if the current lack of open FP2 slots might lead to the FP being your last achievement in the bachelor programme (after completion of the bachelor thesis) with the possible consequence of a longer duration of study. With this information we would like to create a priority list for the allocation of FP2 experiments.

Please read the FP guide for detailed information about the Advanced Lab Course.
