Hints on FP experiments for which students and tutors are physically present
Please bring a mask (e.g. a cloth mask) to all FP experiments where students and tutors are physically present and wear it during the experiment. Please always ensure that there is sufficient distance between all parties involved. Respect the Hygiene rules of the Heidelberg University and the rules of the respective institute.

FP2 experiments in SS 2020 (12 June 2020)
Subject to the conditions for FP1 experiments and compliance with the hygiene rules of the respective institutes, certain FP2 experiments can now also take place again. The dates are available for booking via the FP status page. In cases where the execution of FP experiments is particularly urgent, appointments can also be booked via the tutors or the FP management. Please contact the FP management if booking of FP attempts is particularly urgent for you and you have not yet contacted us.

FP1 experiments from 25 May 2020 on
Considering certain regulations (hygiene concept, cloth masks, distance rule, reduced number of students per experiments) FP1 experiment with students and tutors physically present can be done again. Dates for the time from 25 May 2020 on will be offered for booking starting on Monday, 18 May 2020, 11:00 am.

Introduction to the FP in SS 2020 (16.4.2020)
The introduction into the Advanced Lab course (FP) will be done virtually this semestr. To this end, you find here slides about the basic things to know about the FP. On your personal FP webpage you'll also find a video. The radiation protection course will be postponed to a later date.

SS 2020: No FP experiments in the usual form for the time being (15-April-2020)
Due to the corona pandemic, no FP experiments in the usual form (i.e. as a face-to-face event) will take place in SS 2020 until further notice. Accordingly, dates for the experiments are currently not available for booking. We hope that FP experiments in the usual form can be offered again in the second half of the lecture period.

A few experiments will be carried out at the beginning of SS 2020 as virtual FP experiments with the aid of video conferencing. This is an offer for students for whom the postponement of FP experiments into the second half of the lecture period is a particular hardship. Please contact the FP management by e-mail if this applies to you.

Booking of FP seminars for SS 2020 (2-April-2020)
For the FP seminars, it is planned to hold them in the form of video conferences. Starting from 2-April-2020 seminar presentations can be booked via the personal FP status page. As always, in special cases, e.g. presentations without partners, presentation dates can also be booked by e-mail to the FP management.

Cancellation of FP experiments in the period from March 16 - April 19, 2020
For the period from 16 March to 19 April 2020 all FP experiments are cancelled. This follows the decision of the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy at University of Heidelberg to cancel all courses for the above period to stem the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Please also consult the website of the faculty for physics and astronomy.

Upgrade F36 (Wave front analysis) (17 July 2019)
The experiment F36 was upgraded with a new astronomical CMOS camera. More information on the upgrade is available in the following flyer. Please contact the tutors if you would like to perform F36 in the semester break.

New FP supervisor in INF 501
From May 15, 2019 on Mr. Welzbacher takes care of the FP in INF501 as successor to Mr. Ludwig.

FP seminar talks
There will be no FP seminars in the semester breaks. Please make sure to book a date for your FP seminar talk during the semester.

FP experiments as last task in the bachelor programme
Please send an email to the FP adminstration if the current lack of open FP2 slots might lead to the FP being your last achievement in the bachelor programme (after completion of the bachelor thesis) with the possible consequence of a longer duration of study. With this information we would like to create a priority list for the allocation of FP2 experiments.

Please read the FP guide for detailed information about the Advanced Lab Course.
