{The TRD DCS Project} In order to operate a
detector like the ALICE detector a system is needed to control and run
the detector. Each sub-detector has its own DCS (Detector Control
System). This system takes care of the "health" of the
detector. During startup the DCS has to be the instance started first.
Without a running DCS the detector is not operable at all. Once the
detector is running the DCS checks environmental parameters like
temperature and supply voltages. In the case of TRD and TPC the DCS is
responsible for the initializing the detector electronics
i.e. threashold settings and program download. HV and low voltages are
set and controlled. Each of the different running conditions can be
identified with different states. Therefore the DCS will be will be
implemented in terms of finite state machines using the FSM++ build in
the PVSS system. ![]() {} |
