Welcome to the H1 Group at the Physikalisches Institut Heidelberg

Contact & Members | Theses & Publications

The H1 group at the Physikalisches Institut in Heidelberg together with the H1 group at the Kirchhoff Institute is one of the founding members of the H1-Collaboration. The institute or members of the group were involved in the construction of the Backward Drift Chamber and in the design and construction of the Fast Track Trigger.

The H1 experiment at the Electron-Proton Collider HERA was in operation from 1992 to 2007 and has recorded about 109 events corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 500pb-1. The group is currently active in the analysis of the data. Main physics interests are the search for new phenomena beyond the Standard Model of Particle Physics, the study of the structure of the proton and tests of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). The HERA results play a key-role for the understanding of hadronic interactions and are of particular interest for other high energy experiments like at LHC and cosmic ray experiments at highest energies.
