Research interests

High precision tests of the Standard Model of Particle Physics, in particular tests of the flavour sector are a powerfull tool to search for New Physics. A ideal laboratory to perform this kind of tests is the B meson system.

LHCb is one of the 4 experiments at the Large Hadron Collider. The experiment started data-taking end of 2009. The Heidelberg group has taken a leading role in the construction and commissioning of the tracking system and in the reconstruction software. The following analysis are the focus of our research:
  • Mixing and flavour tagging
  • CP violation in the Bs system
  • Precision measurements of lifetimes
  • Mixing and CP violation in the charm system
  • Particle multiplicity studies
  • Lepton flavour violation
A detailed description of our group activities can be found here (more information on LHCb@HD)

Funding

The research group is funded by the ERC Starting grant: 256899-ASYMMETRY, an Emmy-Noether fellowship of the german research council (DFG),

by the ministry for education and research (BMBF) and the international Max-Planck-School "Precision Test of Fundamental Symmetries" (IMPRS).
