Lecture: Accelerator Physics WS 25/26



General Information

MVSpec (2SWS lecture, 1SWS tutorial) 4 LP/CP

Prerequisites: Bachelor course PEP1-4,PTP1-4

Contents: This lecture gives an introduction to the basics of accelerator physics. Different types of accelerators (hadron machines, e+e- machines) as well as synchrotron radiation facilities are discussed as well as new acceleration techniques and prospects for future accelerators. The lecture is complemented by "hands-on" tutorials in which simple accelerator and storage ring structures are simulated.

Audience: This course is primarily aimed at master's students, but is also suitable for interested bachelor students. Knowledge of electrodynamics and special relativity are the main prerequisites.
