Welcome to the symposium on

"Pushing Frontiers in Quantum Information with Atoms and Photons"

at the Internationales Wissenschaftsforum Heidelberg, the International Science Forum of the University of Heidelberg.
This symposium is intended to intensify the link between the basic research areas of photonics and atomic ensembles. We thereby hope to further the collaborations on new promising approaches to quantum information and communication technologies and the discussions of their physical challenges.

An exclusive list of speakers, a limited number of participants, and plenty of time to spend together between the selected talks and in the evenings will create an ideal atmosphere for discussions and hopefully trigger new ideas and collaborations. The beautiful setting in the Old Town of Heidelberg will certainly contribute to an inspiring atmosphere.

The University of Heidelberg is celebrating its 625th anniversary in the academic year 2010/2011. It is a great pleasure for us to be able to invite you during this year of celebration and festivities to the newly renovated rooms of the International Science Forum.
